Los estudios sobre este enclave fueron difundidos, inicialmente, por el polifacético archivero Pedro Ibarra Ruiz, y a partir de 1935, esta labor corrió a cargo de Alejandro Ramos Folqués, su propietario y excavador. Abogado reconvertido en arqueólogo por vocación, dedicó su vida a excavar y difundir sus hallazgos en este antiguo solar pródigo en vestigios materiales, en especial, los vasos ibéricos decorados del denominado «Estilo Elche-Archena», así como nuevos testimonios de escultura ibérica de gran valor arqueológico e histórico. Ese gran legado material y documental es custodiado desde 1996 por la Fundación Arqueológica L’Alcúdia de la Universidad de Alicante. No obstante, esa herencia cultural estaba necesitada de una profunda revisión que sirviera para actualizar unos datos que, con el paso de los años, habían perdido su contextualización histórica y material.
